Please graph:\[y=x^2\] Next, please graph \[y=x^2-6.\] Note that the 2nd graph looks the same as the first, except that you move the whole graph downward 6 units. Now estimate where the graph of \[y=x^2-6\] intercepts the x-axis. Those two values are your approx. roots. The more careful you are in graphing this function, the more accurate your root estimations will be.
