A cube has side length fifteen kilometers. What is its surface area

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Surface area is just the sum of the area of all of the sides of a shape. A cube has 6 equal sides. Each side is a square. The area of a square is a*a. So the surface area of a cube is 6 * (a*a).

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

And your answer will be in squared units(squared km in this case)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What do you think it is??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do I do for a*a

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

multiply!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I multiply 6*6 omg im so lost!

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Where are you lost at??

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

@obey_deedee you want help or not??

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Anyways....here.....A cube has 6 sides. The surface area of one side would be 15*15 since all the side lengths are the same on a cube. 15*15 = 225 times the 6 sides = 1,350 km²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much so basically I just multiply area by area and what they gave me ..

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

yes..no problem! anytime!:)
