Please explain to me how to solve this? What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 5x + 3y = 7 3x - 5y = -23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=(5x-7)\div9\] Which is the first equation. \[3x-5((5x-7)\div3)=-23\] Solve for x. Once you get x you plug it into the first equation and get y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, in that first equation the 9 is actually a 3
