Who started the religious war in Ireland between the Catholics and the Protestants?

England has been Protestant since Henry VII. Ireland has been Catholic since Patrick or there abouts. So Henry and his successors attempts to take over Ireland would be the start of the religious war I suppose. Nationalism and religion get mixed together when the fighting starts.
