ok first you need to find the height for that use the triangle to solve it |dw:1397163538895:dw| use the circled triangle to solve it since you have the adjacent which is 22-12ft =10ft and you are also given and angle 45 degrees so us tan to the opposite which is also height \[\tan45=\frac{ h }{ 10 } \] h=10*tan45 = 10ft therefore the height is 10ft now use these numbers and substitute in the area eqaution which is \[A=\frac{ a+b }{2 }h= \frac{ 12+22 }{ 2 }*10 = 170\]
