OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

It's good, but not appropriate for OpenStudy. You used language not allowed for our community. I'm going to have to ask you to close this.

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

@beccaboo333 in writing feild there is no such thing like " not allowed " u have to write all the dirty details else it would be only disneys songs and movies :D so whats the poin of having a write section

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my mistake for getting becca on

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Having a writing section is perfectly fine. But it should still be age appropriate for everyone who comes on here. Would you really like enjoying having someone under 13 read this? Most likely not. Some of our users break the age rule. We just cannot have language like this. I'm sorry.

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

welll somtimes i go to chat and see things lol not approriate for anyone , so what do u think ? there is no 13 yrs ppl on chat too ?

thomaster (thomaster):

No discussion possible. There are rules regarding language. If you bypass the language filter, you're breaking those rules. There's no freedom of speech here so you can certainly NOT write all the dirty details here.

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

for me lol i dnt but deleilte the write section if there is no freedome !

thomaster (thomaster):

You do not need to use inappropriate language in writing. If you don't agree with the rules regarding language, find another websites that does provide that freedom.

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

huh lol , im aware to that im not crazy to write things here :P i just defends writing , anyway see no point in argument in this thread :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Quit honestly I don't have a problem with the word choice. The internet is a place where we are free to do as we please, and voice ourselves. If there are children on this site than that's there parents business not yours. The poem however I mean I liked it but I thought it was a bit cliché. Try to come up with something original and new. You can obviously write poetry and you've written a nice poem I just would have like to have seen something a little more different.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant Quite not quit sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow that's amazing! Is that your own experience

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow your a really great writer. and i am sorry for what you went through.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@ispike As for the web site content, the word choice is NOT just an issue for the parents. See, there are laws you need to follow that actually restrict content of a web site if you intentionally target minors with it. The OpenStudy policies are set up in accordance with those laws. So saying it is only a parental issue is incorrect. The site rules are also set up to be parent friendly so that no parent should be blocking OpenStudy. Why this works is because every user has agreed to flow those rules. alyssa23 has, you have, etc. If you don't agree, you can't get an account and post. It really is that simple. And there is no absolute freedom on the internet. You are still accountable for many things on the internet. Just Google up teen arrested internet comment and you will find one set of things youths have been put in prison for doing on the internet. And don't try to pull out "freedom of speech" as a defense. Read the law more closely. "Free" speech is actually very limited. Otherwise there would be no such things as liable, slander, or cyber bullying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes but the thing is that this is not bullying. she is being a writer and expressiung hersf. Also i just read this agreement that we all made to open study and it seys nothing about cursing. It is not illegal to say these words as long as you are not saying them in an offensive manner. you might want to look over the rules again because asnother thing is that no children should be on this website. It seys ages 13 and upo. Any younger age that is on this website is not the website or users problen but the parents. If they dont want there childrenbseeing this stuff then they shouldnt allow them on it or supervise them. Im pretty sure every 13 year old knows what a curse word is. I dsont understand why people look at curse words as adjectives because thatsx what they are. Theyere a way to disgrib ourselfs. Im sorry if you dont see it that way but this is my personal opinion. She is no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry about a peeling and what not ignore last sentence I'm having technical difficaulities

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@ispike I am not talking about the original post. It has been edited at this point and the original issue removed. In fact, it was edited within a day of being posted. What I was replying to was your statements which made some incorrect assumptions. I am not arguing the rules with you. I am just informing you of them and how they are seen by the administration and moderators. No more. No less. In the Terms of Service, which you agree to, it lists under Arbitration that you also need to follow the Code of Conduct. Personally, I wish this was more clearly stated, but it is there. In the Code of Conduct it states: Don't be offensive, inappropriate, or creepy! So avoid: * Cursing and bypassing the language filters. So it is covered explicitly. There are many other things that are implicit, but they listed the ones they really do not want, like cursing. This is in part for what I will explain next. As for the 13 year old issue, people get that wrong all the time. See, the site can be joined by 13+ for posting due to COPPA type laws, but it can be viewed by anyone in the world. No age limit for using your eyeballs. Just come on with a guest account, even if you are a 5 year old looking at the homework site your older sibling was just on. As such, all content is supposed to be of a level that anyone of any age can be exposed to. That means cursing is covered and there are no exceptions because the intent is to make the site child safe. Not teen safe. Child safe. When she made me a moderator, Preetha's instructions on cursing were to suspend people for at least a month. That is how much she does not want it on the site. I generally don't do things that long and try to deal with the people in other ways first, but by passing that on I hope to help you understand why moderators do get pretty serious about the no cursing thing. As for difficulties, the site has been slow today and I think they rebooted it twice to try and clear things up. No fun.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice job @alyssa23

thanks if u wanna tag some people that would be great
