Can someone check if i got this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point G is located at (3, −1) and point H is located at (−2, 3). Find the x value for the point that is 2 over 3 the distance from point G to point H. 1.5 −0.33 −0.5 6.33 <--- my answer?

hartnn (hartnn):

shouldn't the x value be between 3 and -2 ?

hartnn (hartnn):

you did 3+10/3, right ? try 3-10/3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm not sure how to do it can you please explain it a little further?

hartnn (hartnn):

sure, difference in x-co-ordinates will be \(\Large 3- (-2) = 5\) right ? and we need 2/3rd of this distance

hartnn (hartnn):

so, your x value should lie at \(2/3\times 5 = 10/3\) distance from G

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i know that part just not the next one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and i got 3.33

hartnn (hartnn):

and since it need to be in the middle of these points, we do 3-10/3
