Belgrade and Hungary became part of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of which leader? Constantine XI Mehmet II Süleyman I Osman I

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following best describes the Golden Age of Islam? It was a period of military triumph and control. It was a period of scientific and artistic innovation. Religious leaders prevented progress by discouraging ideas not in the Qu'ran. Religious leaders hastened progress by encouraging mysticism.

@zepdrix @robtobey @beccaboo333 @Compassionate @wio @Loser66 @Destinymasha

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Do you have any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one I'm assuming it's Osman I but I did this in school earlier on so I don't remember much. For the second one I think it's B.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

I actually don't know for this, thought I did. Let me get someone who might be more helpful. @kewlgeek555

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @beccaboo333

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

@amaury4545 : \(\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}\\\color{white}{.}\\\Huge\sf\color{blue}{~~~~Welcome~to~OpenStudy!~\ddot\smile}\\\color{white}{.}\\\\\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}\) Give me a second to be SURE of the explanation I am going to give you. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay, thankyou :[)

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay. For the first one, I believe that Belgrade and Hungary became part of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Mehmet II. As for the second one, there were many achievements in the Golden Age of Islam. Not only religious and cultural achievements were made, but also intellectual, economic, an political achievements I think the best choice would be B..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I was unsure about the rulers since I am not good with names, thank you @kewlgeek555! Would you like to help me with a few more? I did most of them myself but there's a few I'm having troubles with

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Go ahead! :D I'll try my best because the last time I learned about Islam and it's Golden Age was in August. (>v<)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Same here, gotta love those reviews ;p This is one of them: How did Akbar, Mughal emperor of India approach religion during his rule? He was tolerant of Hindus. He forced Hindus to convert to Islam. He enslaved the Muslims in the region. He prevented Muslims from serving in government.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think he was tolerant of Hindus

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

~laughs~ Yeah, those reviews. (>v<) I am not sure about this one, I actually do not remember learning about this "Akbar"...if you'd like, give me five to ten minutes and find some text or webpages that can help. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.biography.com/people/akbar-the-great-9178163#expanding-the-empire&awesm=~oB63noc1IjsEYx i found this website if it helps

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

It might have something, let's check it out! :)

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

"He did not force India’s majority Hindu population to convert to Islam; he accommodated them instead, abolishing the poll tax on non-Muslims, translating Hindu literature and participating in Hindu festivals." That's the first clue. Based on this, we know it is not B and it is probably A. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm thinking A or D on this one, possibly D.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

The Fourth Crusade. In 1198, Pope Innocent III called for a new Crusade, more out of a desire to elevate the papacy than in response to events in the Holy Land. This Crusade failed to rouse any monarchs. Led largely by French knights, the Crusade set out for the Holy Land in 1202 only to be distracted by Venetian lords who convinced them to capture the wealth and splendor of Eastern Orthodox Constantinople instead. ****So, rather than retake the Holy Land from Muslim rule, the Fourth Crusade sacked the capital of the Byzantine Empire, a Christian city. However, the Crusaders’ control of Constantinople lasted less than a century. The major accomplishment of this Crusade proved to be weakening the Byzantines enough that they could no longer hold off Muslim expansion.****

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would it be B?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Did you take out the question? I wouldn't know. cx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In what way did the Christian Crusades contribute to the decline of the Byzantine Empire? Financing the Crusades proved to be an impossible burden for the Byzantine treasury. Latin Crusaders turned against the Byzantines, leading to the loss of much territory. The Byzantine army lost many of its leading knights when they left to fight in the Crusades. Nations that were not joining the Crusades attacked Byzantium when it was occupied in the east.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I did, I dc'ed for a minute :s

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Um...I am not sure...sorry. >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's fine, that was the last one! Thank you(:!

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, good luck on your review! Have fun, keep learning, Get A's. :D Thanks for the medal and also thanks to becca for recommending me and giving a medal as well and @Destinymasha for giving me a medal.
