Why do muslims argue the Big Bang. Do not these disbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were an integrated mass, which We then split, and from water We made all living things? Will they not believe even then? 21-The Prophets, 30
Big bang does not contradict with anything surah/verse in the Qur'an. Otherwise I am sure Abdus Salam (a Nobel Peace prize physicist would not have been Muslim.) ^_^ If you are saying why do Muslims argue that verse means the big bang, that is because the Qur'an is open to interpretations. (Yay! Islam is open minded.) Muhammed (PBUH) even talked about schools of thought. (Plenty of hadith to it too.) The Qur'an is the word of god to Muslims. If there is something wrong in the Qur'an then the Qur'an isn't wrong. We must of interpreted wrong. So there is these "schools of thought" which practice learning Arabic and formulate these interpretations. Surah 21:30 I don't believe it talks about the big bang (than again I maybe wrong, I'll need to read the surah before I may a comment on it), Surah 51:47 seems to fit the generally theory that the universe is expanding.
The universe is expanding how? What could of caused it to expand. Explosion is the most logical answer.
May peace be upon you, Big bang was NOT an explosion, that is a really bad way to explain it. Though I think they do it for the convenience of teaching younger people who haven't learned physics and higher mathematics. The universe is expanding for the reason of Hubble's law. Hubble's law, which ties in with the Big Bang. Learn more: http://www.exploratorium.edu/origins/cern/ideas/bang.html
It said in the artical you just showed me it was an explosion. "The Big Bang was like no explosion you might witness on earth today"
May peace be upon you, Again it is a website aimed for children, think about the logical and deeper definition of an explosion. "An explosion is a rapid increase in volume and release of energy in an extreme manner, usually with the generation of high temperatures and the release of gases." (Also explosion have a single point, a point of origin.) Try applying that definition to the Big Bang physicists will tackle you left and right. Do you know what the Big Bang is? Not in the generally definition of it being an "explosion?" The Big Bang is NOT an explosion. Think about when bombs explode, they convert their internal energy to that of kinetic energy produce heat. Which causes the initial explosion of the bomb as well as the surrounding matter. In the Big Bang, energy and matter were created, not just transformed. Also it wasn't something of simple matter expanding, but space and time itself expanding.
An explosion is a chemical reaction.
May peace be upon you, I cannot tell whether you are trolling, or you forgot a question mark. SOME explosions are chemical reactions, a explosion is classified as a chemical reactions when caused by an exothermic reaction. This is because they produce heat. Other explosions happen because of pressure.
If I might add, please completely read what I wrote. If you like just ask me for a more detailed explanation. :-)
:O
May Reeses Pieces be upon you, As Opcode said, the Big Bang wasn't an explosion, and it doesn't conflict with anything in the Quaran.
@Compassionate I am offended! Reeses Pieces? I am more of a Hershey's Kisses kind of guy. :-P
@opcode how would one go about criticizing the quran if there are many interpretations? most Christians take the bible literally. if you do not take the quran literally how should what the quran says be of divine revelation?
The Qur'an is to be taken literally! In the eyes of Muslims it is divine revelation as well. Things such as murder are defined clear as daylight wrong, so there is no "interpretation" on that subject. The Qur'an is allowed to be interpreted by a school of thought, which makes it able to be reasoned and logically thought with. Though Islam may look like another Abrahamic religion, the inner workings of Islam seem to be more complex; to me at least. :-)
