What we can do in the world to prevent future genocides.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

If you can come up with a way for ethnic groups to note hate each other, that would do it! Lots of folks have tried. Sometimes the solutions that get tried lead to more hate. Individually, you can not hate other people for any reason. And try to teach everyone around you the same. But haters are gonna kill.

Thanks a lot :D!!

Teach history! Winston Churchill said "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. " The best way to prevent genocides is to teach people about previous genocides and other horrors that occured to other groups. You can't make different groups not hate each other, it will never happen. But you can discourage people from repeating history.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

If Winston Churchill said that, he was quoting George Santayana, the Spanish philosopher. Yes, everyone should study history. But, we need to keep in mind that it works for the bad guys the same as for the good guys. A thorough study of Pol Pot in Cambodia would provide a step by step for committing genocide as well as some idea on how to avoid it.
