Ok, I need help. I have to write an essay on how the bill of right and the magna carta are alike and different. I already have that they both gave the people a say, and that they both limited the governments or kings power. Please help me with ideas.
The Magna Carta granted power to a few nobles, the 1% of England at the time. It was a step in the right direction, but had to be coerced from the king. It isn't the result of principles and ideas. The Bill of Rights is a document created by free men who asserted their natural rights and agreed to form a government. No one granted them their rights. They created a list of rights they felt all men inherently had. Through a democratic process, amending the Constitution, the people restated the rights they agreed they had and made sure the government knew it could not grant or take those rights.
