Do the ordered pairs below represent a relation, a function, both a relation and a function, or neither a relation nor a function? (-2,-6) , (1,-9) , (-2,-15) , (7,-15) both a relation and a function relation only function only neither a relation nor a function
not a function.. u have a -2 repeating twice
relation is just a set of ordered pairs, function is a relation where it only have one relationship for each input value
isn't there a vertical line test for functions and if it goes through the graph twice, it can't be a function?
Like UsukiDoll said, input value -2 has two relationships, -6 and -15. So it's not function.
yeah, there is vertical line test, but it works efficiently on graph haha.
well can't you just plot those points and do a vertical line test from there? I know the -2,-15 and -2, -6 are going to hit twice
Yeah, but there is no point in plotting if you can just take a look at given pairs. It is clearly not a function if there is two pairs, same input, different outputs. You can do it just to double check and make sure though.
so if it's not a function , I highly doubt it's A and C . so we're left with relation only or not a relation
Relation is set of ordered pairs. This question already said that it is ordered pairs so it is relation haha.
So the answer is relation only.
