E.coli is a prokaryotic organism. it require lactose for transport and for carbon sources. So, It has three adjacent structural genes, lacZ, lacY, and lacA. The genes encode β-galactosidase, lactose permease, and thiogalactoside transacetylase (or galactoside O-acetyltransferase), respectively. Hence, the correct option is (d) Prokaryotic gene.
