why black colour can absorb white colour???

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Do you mean why does black absorb heat and why white reflects it? I've never heard of what you had asked. A black object absorbs all wavelengths of light and converts them into heat, so the object gets warm. A white object reflects all wavelengths of light, so the light is not converted into heat and the temperature of the object does not increase noticeably. scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=3873

i learn this from a level book that states black things is able to absorb light,so amazing!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Indeed it is. Welcome to OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

hmm the reasoning is kinda wrong with the cause and effect. Objects are black BECAUSE the light they absorb all wavelengths (in the visible spectrum). Cause: absorb all wavelengths of light Effect: object is black not the other way around, where the cause would be that the object is black and the effect is that it absorbs at all wavelengths.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Thanks for correcting me @aaronq

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, and white objects do not absorb any light in our the portion of the spectrum we can see. Some people do not consider white a color but an absence of color. And as for the heat, light is energy so absorbing it will absorb heat.
