The invention of the zero made mathematics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You seem to be missing a bit of your question, darling. The invention of the zero made mathematics what?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

It made mathematics much more useful. Negative numbers are not possible with out the concept of zero. Computer science and Calculus would not exist. Algebra and Geometry wold be limited. Before the concept of zero as a number was integrated into number systems, clerks would leave a blank or write a word meaning nothing. It's not just the symbol that created change. It's the idea that nothing is something. The Greeks had a very hard time with the concept. In the West it had an effect on religion as well.

I have to agree with Wwhitlock.
