The main purpose of the stomach is to break down food after feeding and extract the nutrients necessary to the body. The extraction begins during the digestive process as the stomach grinds and breaks down the food and mixes enzymes created by the stomach glands and intestines. The stomach is then able to extricate the available nutrients
