Technological advances create modern life. They do not change it. Modern means now. If now is different from before, then before is history.

OK, I got that out of my system. Your teacher probably won't like that answer, so:

Everything is faster because of technology. We communicate faster, we move around the planet faster, we make decisions faster. 

We also seem to have developed a need for speed. If you don't get an answer to your text immediately, something must be wrong with the other person or your relationship with that person, for example. The insatiable need for speed has benefits but also brings problems.

We are still humans inside those fast machines or on either end of communication tech. Often, the lack of time to deliberate, or think things through, causes problems in our communication. You might say that we miscommunicate faster.

A reaction to the multiplying technology also seems to be happening. Scrapbooking, for example, takes time to do right. It's growth in popularity is a human reaction to the speed and unfeeling nature of tech. Retro hair and clothing styles would be other examples. It's interesting to me that hard core gamers will often put down game controllers to join with friends to play table games like Settlers of Catan and such.
