Christians in Europe wanted Jerusalem, but the Muslims had control of it, so the Christians then attacked the Muslims. :3

Specifically Christians from western Europe. Or you might say the Crusades were launched by the barbarians against one of the most advance civilizations at the time. Crusaders were not really models of Christian behavior.
