Emma Willard was the founder of the Troy Female Seminary in 1821 in New York which was a model for girls schools everywhere. The second great awakening was a Christian movement emotional and appealing to classes and was a national movement. It spawned a series of movements ; prison reforms, temperance, and the abolition of slavery.( most likely inspired Emma Willard's movement to found the Troy female Seminary.)
