What might be the effects if a mutation in the gene that code for the lac repressor in e coli?

if you mutate the repressor several things can happen, most common are: 1. the repressor wont bind near the promoter and the lac operon will always be "on". 2. the repressor will bind and wont respond to the inducer (allolactose). The lac operon will always be "off"
