Medal! find the common ratio of the sequence -175, -86, -43, -21.5 ... 86 2 -86 1/2

myininaya (myininaya):

if you have \[ar,ar^2,ar^3,ar^4,...\] then r is the common ratio you can find the common ratio if you have a geometric sequence by doing second term/first term and then reduce that fraction

hartnn (hartnn):

Common ratio is the ratio between the terms of geometric sequence. Common ratio 'r' = 2nd term/1st term = 3rd term / 2nd term = 4th term/3rd term and so on so can you guess what could be the common ratio here ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 2.... is that right?

myininaya (myininaya):

what is the second term? what is the first term?

myininaya (myininaya):

then put second term over the first term and reduce and that is your answer
