A map uses a scale of 1 centimeter = 200 meters. If it is 5 kilometers between two locations, how many centimeters on the map is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,000 meters = 1 Km. 1,000/200 = 5 5*5 = 25 25cm.

use Ratio Method, it is easiest. 1Km = 1000M so 5KM =5000KM 1cm = 200 M x cm = 5000M cross multiply. x =25.
