You say "which statement," what are your options? Slaves were uneducated, so when they were freed it was difficult to find jobs that they qualified for. Even if they could find jobs that they qualified for, racism would prevent them from getting a decent paycheck or even just the job in general. Also, emancipated slaves almost always had no money after they were freed, so they couldn't buy clothes, food, or housing.
