GEOMETRY: What is the ratio of the area of rectangle abcf to the area of rectangle ABDE? http://gyazo.com/96d3139103120f2760b0306a254158f5 *cut off numbers were (5,2)

OpenStudy (ranga):

Area ABCF = AB * BC Area ABDE = AB * BD Ratio of (Area ABCF / Area ABDE) = (AB * BC) / (AB * BD) = BC / BD. Find the lengths of BC and BD and plug it in.

I've tried and can still not figure it out

OpenStudy (ranga):

Use the distance formula. B is (5,2). C is (11,10) Distance BC = \[\sqrt{(11-5)^2+(10-2)^2} = ?\]

OpenStudy (ranga):

B is (5,2) and D is (14,14) Distance BD = ?
