the postwar economy suffered severe what?
Welcome to OS:) The economy of the post war years of the 1940's suffered from unemployment and an increase in the population. Service personnel had come back from the war to take back the jobs they vacated when they left only to find many of those jobs did not exist any longer due to the cut backs in industrial production following the war. Upon their return, many service personnel settled into creating a family and having children. Eventually, the manufacturing plants were retooled to create automobiles, trucks, tractors, farming equipment, etc and people were able to find work. Now that they were working people could buy some of the items being produced as well as a home of their own. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100608214842AAoZHkU
