the question bit is cut off, are you looking for the gradient (slope) ?

if so , pick two points say (-1, 1), and (0, 3) find the change in y-coordinate ie the rise = 3-1, and find the change in x-coordinate ie the run = 0-(-1) the slope is rise/run
