Usually autosomal diorders have greater affect on a person's health. They can also cause symptoms like mental retardation...but sex chromosome disorders may only lead to physical changes...comparitively better than their counterparts..!

Because the genes that control things like our metabolism and cellular functions are mostly autosomal.  Both males and females need to be able to digest sugars.
