Is x^3 + x^5 = x^8? Explain your answer.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

This is not true. When adding variables with different powers, you cannot add them together any further. If x^3 and x^5 were multiplied, this equation would be true.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

You can only add variables of the same power, for example: 2x^3 + 3x^3 + 4x^5 = 5x^3 + 4x^5

Really? Thank you for the help.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

No prob.
