@ElizabethS, corvids (crows) are very smart. There are corvids that can solve puzzles and make tools. There was a study recently (last 20 years or so) that showed the common crow can learn faces and recognize those faces years later. In fact, the young even learn from their parents behavior around the tested human faces (people where masks), and it was found that years later the young still recognized the mask even though it never directly interacted with the person in the mask. Reptiles can you a scent/taste mechanism to track prey or some can use the body heat of the prey.
