Help now please!!!! Should the Electoral College continue to be used? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Electoral system - yes. Electoral College - no. Electoral votes should be determined by congressional districts and not a state-wide tally. This would reflect much more a accurate vote in a presidential election. As it stands currently, even in a close election all the electoral votes from a state go to a single candidate. Additionally, the current system results in only selective campaigning. Why would a democratic candidate spend time in Utah or Texas, where they have no chance of winning the electoral vote. By the same logic, why would a republican candidate spend time campaigning in California or the eastern seaboard.
