Hold on one sec I am thinking.

@ElizabethS cartilage is a flexible, supple, slippery structure found mostly at joints and appendage that do not need to be rigid, like ears or the tip of your nose. It does not heal or regrow. A damage piece of cartilage will stay damaged while bone would not (most times). It can also become bone. This is important for birth because the birth canal is usually no much more than 10 cm. Bone is a hard structure that is used to provide structural support and protection. It is also where the production of red and white blood cells take place (in the marrow of long bones). Spinal, brain or brain ganglion, spinal fluid, etc.
