OpenStudy (tanya123):

What is the mammalian supertree? Describe cynodonts. What is their place in the evolution of mammals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some of the oldest mammals. They are in the therapids.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, by oldest mammals I meant earliest evolved mammals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The supertree would just be a tree of all mammals. The cyn. would be at the very base of the tree, one of the first branches. (though this is poor phylogenetic theory since you cannot have extinct species in a tree)
