But in this case, you want to solve for the parenthesis first and then the brackets because the parenthesis is inside of the brackets. But after you solve the parenthesis, you practically use the order of operations, to get the number within the bracket.

Follow the PEMDAS in order. Make sure to do addition and subtraction from left to right. Also multiplication and division should be done left to right. Like whatever comes first when both operations are together.
