Please Help! Explain, in complete sentences, how you would use the substitution method to solve the following system of equations and provide the solution to the system. x + 5y = 3 2x + 9y = 4

You would take the top problem and try to get x or y by itself, and than you would take that and put it in the other formula.. as the following: 2 (3-5y) + 9y= 4. Than you would solve this problem as a normal equation. It should give you the y value. Next, you would put your new value in the y slot for either equation and solve for x.
