jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

prime factorization is when you divide the number by prime numbers until you're left with just prime numbers for example 18 -> divided by 2 is 9 and 9 can be broken down into 3 and 3 so prime factorization of 18 would be 2 * 3^2

i still dont get it :(

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it's alright :) what id 84 divided by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

42

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

then divide by 2 again, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

then divide by 3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

then you can't divide it any further right? so you have two 2s one 3 and one 7
