A ballon has circumference of 16cm. Use the circumference to approximate the surface area of the balloon!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What is the radius of this balloon?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Any ideas?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Hint: C = 2pi*r C = circumference pi = 3.14 (approximately) r = radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesn't tell me radius? only circumference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea where to start?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You use the circumference formula to find the radius

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

C = 2pi*r 16 = 2pi*r ... plug in C = 16 (the given circumference) now solve for r
