How was Japanese culture similar to Korean culture?

OpenStudy (tanya123):

There are some similarities, especially with language and the overall Asian culture (respect elders, take off your shoes, public baths, etc), but there are a lot of differences too.. Korean cuisine is way complicated. Whoever thinks Kim chi is simple should try making it. It takes hours and then takes days beyond that. Most Korean dishes take forever. Of course it looks simple, but it's not. Japanese diet is much less meaty and much less spicy too. Anyway.. the Japanese are much more reserved and have a higher regard for the group mentality, though Koreans have that too. Koreans are very passionate and show their feelings openly a lot more than Japanese. Japanese tend to be more open in terms of pop culture, but they are much more closed about other things.
