A. b = 5 in. and h = 4.6 in. B. b = 5 in. and h = 13 in. C. b = 13 in. and h = 5 in. D. b = 13 in. and h = 4.6 in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll give a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and become a fan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plese explaine to me how to figure this out! Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at the location of the dotted line, it marks height, flip the triangle over and 13 becomes the base, and the dotted line becomes the height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks! Can you please help me with another one? @Mr.Man420 @TheBlackSnow @autumnlovescorbin

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

same question :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah thanks! Here is another one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the area of the triangle. A. 80 mm² B. 160 mm² C. 3200 mm² D. 6400 mm² http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1388500_1389000/1388521/1/ffab666b23b8537ac18585789bc9d6974e2d8885/62361_FGA_U3_L6_V2_P.jpg

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Area of triangle = \(\large \dfrac{1}{2}bh\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

figure out base and height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the bace and hight? i mean where are they

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

base could be any side of the triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1600?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

height is the distance between "that base" and the "vertex opposite to that base"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or would it be 80*80

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

use the formula

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

base = 80 height = 80 Area = \(\large \dfrac{1}{2}bh = \dfrac{1}{2}*80*80 = ? \)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont know what the sides for the triangle woudl be if i dont know what sides to use? What sides shoudl i use??

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you can use any side, let me show u in a pic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i know which one is base and which is hight?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

there is no single base or height

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

there will be 3 bases and 3 heights in any triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok here is another question can you tell me if i get it wrong???

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u just use whatever the base/height you're given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the area of the triangle? A. 42.14 cm² B. 35.28 cm² C. 21.07 cm² D. 17.64 cm² http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1388500_1389000/1388526/1/dc96c1386f06be7f65a08d360c5e5b1c6f6ee540/62362_FGA_U3_L6_V3_P.jpg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is 21. 07

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct??

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

figure out the base and height (remember base is a SIDE of triangle, its part of the triangle)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i did the bottom of the triangle and then i did the side of the triangle

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I need u figure out base and height first :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

base = ? height = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.3 and 9.8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow so what woudl it be?? I am not sure now?? does it have somthing to do with the dotted line???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get it 3.6*9.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the dotted line is a hight
