Medals!!! Which two theories of Dalton's 5 atomic theories have been disproven and who/what disproved them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

His beliefs were that atoms could not be split. That is what was disproved in a nut-shell. Dalton said that all atoms of one element are identical. They are chemically identical but not identical in mass. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible: Atoms can, of course, be split. Fission and fusion nuclear reactions disprove this part of his theory.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know who disproved it? I know that many people many have been involved, but who mainly disproved it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It wasn't disproved by any one individual. It happened over time as new scientific discoveries were made.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah no one person disproved it... whoever said that.... their right.. i had top look it up!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok then thank u!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur welcome!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But what is the other disproven theory.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it had something to do with atoms being identical right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Atoms of an element are not all identical. most have isotopes, which differ in the number of neutrons they contain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Who discovered that to prove him wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just looked it up it says Frederick Soddy. Thank you both for your help!
