@Mr.Ick
Ok
you must not put the formula in the cell itself, but in the formula bar on top of the spreadsheet.
alright ill start over
I can't do it without typing in a cell
You might have to take control of my pc
you click the cell, and then type the formula in the formula bar, You start a formula by typing = followed by the formula itself. So if you have 4 in A1 and 6 in A2 and you want to multiply that with the answer in A3, You click A3 and type =A1*A2 (the press enter) in the formula bar
It still appears in the cell
hold on
until you press enter, then the formula will be applied on the cell.
This maybe because Im using the hotmail version did you use the hotmail version?
hotmail doesn't exist anymore, merely the domain name is left.
I think you mean you're using office web tools in the online version of Microsoft Outlook
outlook i mean
Let me try it on there.
Hm it works just fine for me. Let's try another formula. You have the original value in A1, in the second column (A2) you put the conversion factor and the answer in the 3rd column (A3). Now you put this formula in A3: =A1*A2 That will do the same thing but it will only work on that row, last formula can be changed to apply on the multiple rows for the same conversion factor.
original value?
you mean the value's you gave me before?
Could you repeat the second part of the assignment here?
Part 2: Create a spreadsheet that lists the ten currencies you chose. For each currency, enter an amount and create a formula to convert it to U.S. dollars. Make sure to include dollar signs on appropriate cells.
So the original value is the value that you need to convert to the new currency|dw:1397674634363:dw|
Wait how do I know which one is U.S.? B right?
and you said I just type it in the formula bar?
finally it worked!
So what do I do now with the numbers?Just bring random numbers together?
I guess I should probably go back and label it
you just put a label on the top row yea, just like I did in my drawing. You could dedicate the first column to indicate the currency you're converting to.
so for the next conversion I'd type A2*B2?
exactly :)
and what about the numbers am I just choosing random numbers?
The assignment doesn't give any numbers so yes, you'll have to choose some random numbers I suppose.
Thanks alot! You dont know how long i've been stuck on this assignment I wish I could just pick you up and hug the hell out of you THANK YOU SO MUCH!
You're most welcome :) Do you know how to automatically display the currency symbol in front of the value in the C column?
No I just went back over and labeled the columns "Euro" but that would save me some time too how do i do that?
- right click the cell - Format Cells... - Go to the Number tab (this is probably the default tab) - In the category list, select "Accounting" - Click on the dropdown menu and select the currency of your choice. The correct symbol will be displayed then
format cells doesn't show up for me
Not if you're using the online version. It only works in Excel.
oh ok...
thanks again
