Evaluate the expression: arctan(-sqrt3) and Arctan(-sqrt3). I don't understand what they mean by evaluate and how these two functions are different.
This is for trigonometry? Have you learned about the unit circle and the special trig functions?
Yes, I figured out arctan(-sqrt3) I just don't know how it differs from Arctan(-sqrt3)
And yes it's for trig. :)
Yah I'm not really sure what the difference is.. that's weird :( The range of arctan is restricted to the first and 4th quadrants. So, \[\Large\rm \arctan(-\sqrt3)=-\frac{\pi}{3}\]yes?
Yes! That's what I got
I dunno what the capital A is all about.. maybe they want some principle value between 0 and 2pi or something.... So if we spin around the circle we land at 5pi/3 Are you entering these values online? :d can we make some guesses?
No! Those are the values I got from a calculator!
