Okay, I know this is a silly question but... What is the purpose of closing a question? Is it just to keep things organized, or does it have a practical function?
Generally, us, ambis request users to close their question if it is off-topic or it has been answered so that others who need help with their problems can get help from the experts as soon as possible! It is true that closing the answered questions keep the things organized but the practical influence of "not" closing the questions (answered ones) acts directly on the students who need help. Experts/Users who seek to help generally scroll and open the asked questions to help them but most of the questions they open are already answered, so, obviously, it will be better if they directly jump to the not-answered ones and give help! To understand this, you need to know what exactly does "Open" and "Closed" questions signify. Open Questions - Those which are not yet answered/ yet to be discussed/ active/ waiting for the response from the asker Closed Questions - Those which are answered / no more discussion required at that time/ inactive/ asker is satisfied by the answer and doesn't seek any more help in that specific question. Thus, to keep things organized and to provide better help to the needy ones, it is important for us (all responsible OS users) to close our questions which satisfy the requirements of "Closed Questions" and to encourage others too to close their questions after being answered.
And yes, it was not a silly question, it is good that you put your question which generally the users don't ! Do let me know if you are satisfied with my response or not ! :)
