What is the name of this molecule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ankitshaw):

do u know the rules of nomenclature of organic compounds??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean like if it ends in -ane its one bond, -ene is double bond and -yne is triple bond?

OpenStudy (ankitshaw):

ya but there is alot more than that.. but for ur this que its easy... since there are 4 carbon then root word is but- and there is a triple bond so but-1-yne

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You need to practice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be but-1-yne?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3-Methylpentan-2-one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw lol

OpenStudy (abb0t):

3-methylpentan-2-one is NOT the correct answer for the molecule above, @courter98

OpenStudy (abb0t):

@evilbrand97 do not give the wrong answer if you do not know, it will confuse the user.
