Two cowboys, Charley Goodnight and Ollie Loving wanted to sell beef on the hoof to people in newly settled areass. They started out in Ft Belknap Texas with 2000 cattle and 18 cowboys. The went over to New Mexico, then up to Colorado selling their cattle to Navajos on Reservations and setlers along the way.
It worked pretty good so they did it again every year for awhile. They eventually extended their maket into Wyoming.
Sorta like door to door cattle salesmen.
