HELP PLEASE! Will give medal and fan!!

I have a Windows Vista laptop, and it comes with a webcam and 2 built in microphones. But here's the problem: The laptop says that the microphones are working, but when I try to record, the microphones pic up NO SOUND at all! Does anyone know what to do?? Please help!!!!

you most likely have it muted, i don't remember the exact steps on vista, but i'm sure there are videos on youtube to demonstrate
