Use newtons method to find absolute maximum of f(x)=sin(x-1)-x^2

OpenStudy (ezraweise):

sorry i have no idea

I don't know where you are in the education process. How do you write Newton's method? I would write this in general: \[x _{n+1} = x _{n} - f(x_{n}) / f'(x _{n})\]

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@BillBell can you help me with a question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since we need to find a maximum we need the first two derivatives of f(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KendrickLamar2014 How do I get to your question?

If I don't get back here, just see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_method#Applications
