The mathematician Shen Kua was asked by the emperor of China to produce maps of all Chinese territories. Shen created 23 maps, each drawn with a scale of 1 cm:900,000 cm. How many centimeters long would a 1 km road be on such a map?

to start, do you know how many centimeters are in a meter, and how many meters are in a kilometer?
there are 100,000 cm in 1 km and 100 cm in 1 meter
yep! skipped right to the one we wanted! so if 100,000 centimeters is one kilometer, then how many kilometers is 900,000 centimeters?
