PLEASE HELP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is my essay so far The world is getting worse. No one wants to do anything about it. What if someone did then we can clean up the earth and it can be a much better place to live in. The trash under the ground is making it harder for us to breathe. The world today is getting worse because in the landfills all they do is bury the trash. Burying the trash is making the earth die off slowly. Also when people bury the trash it pollutes the earth. The world would be better if we all reuse trash, if I had the power I would get red of landfill and make people recycle. If people did that then the world would have fresh air and clean cites. If people start recycling then it would help us breathe easier. Recycling would help the planet because the planet would live longer and the underground would not be full of garbage. If we get all the trash and do something else with it then the earth would live longer and it would help us breathe. When we recycle less energy is needed to generate new materials. The world would be better if we reuse trash because if we just bury trash it makes the earth slowly die and it makes it harder for us to breathe.

here is good informations: About one-third of an average dump is made up of packaging material! •Every year, each American throws out about 1,200 pounds of organic garbage that can be composted. •The U.S. is the #1 trash-producing country in the world at 1,609 pounds per person per year. This means that 5% of the world's people generate 40% of the world's waste. •The highest point in Hamilton County, Ohio (near Cincinnati) is "Mount Rumpke." It is actually a mountain of trash at the Rumpke sanitary landfill towering 1045 ft. above sea level. •The US population discards each year 16,000,000,000 diapers, 1,600,000,000 pens, 2,000,000,000 razor blades, 220,000,000 car tires, and enough aluminum to rebuild the US commercial air fleet four times over. •Out of every $10 spent buying things, $1 (10%) goes for packaging that is thrown away. Packaging represents about 65% of household trash. •On average, it costs $30 per ton to recycle trash, $50 to send it to the landfill, and $65 to $75 to incinerate it About one-third of an average dump is made up of packaging material! •Every year, each American throws out about 1,200 pounds of organic garbage that can be composted. •The U.S. is the #1 trash-producing country in the world at 1,609 pounds per person per year. The construction of railroads connecting Northeastern cities and Midwestern farms The reduction in immigration quotas on Southern and Eastern Europe The spread of government housing for low-income workers throughout U.S. cities The successes of the Settlement House Movement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk:) Which answer best describes why towns and cities were built around railroads and canals? The government and transportation companies planned to build the cities. The canals and railroads were designed to pass through areas well suited for towns. People who worked on the trains and canal boats needed places to stay when they traveled. Land was cheap, and the railroads and canals brought inexpensive goods to the newly settled areas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure? I thought it was C but ok!

Review the map above. How did the idea of Manifest Destiny affect the U.S. border throughout the 1800s? The border of the U.S. remained the same until the late 1890s. The border of the U.S. expanded all the way to the west coast. The border of the U.S. shrank as other countries returned to colonization. The border of the U.S. expanded to contain large amounts of land in Canada. A map showing the continental United States. Areas designated on the map include the original 13 colonies, the Florida Territory, the Louisiana Purchase, the Texas Annexation, Mexico, the Mexican Cession, The Oregon Territory, the Gadsden Purchase, and the British Cession of 1818.

Which of the following best explains what led to the concept of Manifest Destiny? Americans wanted to protect the land of the Native Americans. Americans thought they should spread their culture and ideals. Americans wanted European countries to stay out of their affairs. Americans learned about this concept from the Native Americans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Manifest Destiny was a term used in the 1840s to justify the United States' westward expansion into such areas as Texas, Oregon, and California. There was a widely held underlying belief that Americans, the "chosen people," had a divinely inspired mission to spread the fruits of their democracy to the less fortunate (usually meaning Native Americans and other non-Europeans). what sounds like this one?

Which answer best explains the Cherokee's main argument against Georgia in Cherokee Nation v. Georgia? The Cherokee argued they had legally bought their land from other tribes. The Cherokee argued they were a separate nation and not bound by state laws. The Cherokee argued they had already signed an agreement with the federal government. The Cherokee argued they had given all their land to the missions so Georgia had no case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Cherokee claimed that because they were an independent nation they could not be governed by state laws.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help with the last paragraph and its on landfills as you can see

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

When people bury trash, it pollutes the Earth. If people were to re-use most of the trash by recycling it, it would result in a clean Earth with fresh air -- and who doesn't like fresh air? By just simply doing things like washing plastic forks and re-using them and re-using plastic bags, it would lower the amount of trash going into the landfills, and overall, keep the Earth much cleaner. By recycling trash, there are also less resources being used up. In conclusion, if we all came up with some creative ideas on how to recycle some of our trash, we could have a cleaner, fresher, Earth.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I used a bit of what you already had, but I modified it and added to it.
