bouncing ball show simple harmonic motion?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Almost, but it soon stops bouncing, which is damped harmonic motion rather than simple (undamped) harmonic motion.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

No: the motion is not harmonic because the restoring force is not proportional to displacement.

Good point. Not F=-kx, so does not even start as SHM. I was wrong.

And...what was I thinking? Reflection/bounce at ground very different from harmonic motion return. Damping a minor issue.
