what did the blackshirts schutzstaffel and brownshirts have in common
All three of those were Nazi organizations, used for a variety of violent purposes ranging from intimidation of political opponents to genocide in the case of the Schutzstaffel (better known by its initials, the SS). They were all involved in Mussolini's rise to power.

That's close, but the Schutzstaffel (the SS) and the brownshirts were both instrumental in Hitler's rise to power, not Mussolini. His were the so-called 'blackshirts'. The brownshirts (the SA, or the sturmabteilung) were Nazi thugs that formed the irregular military arm of the party providing general security. The SS were the "elite" chosen, at first, as Hitler's bodyguard and eventually expanded into a larger fighting force loyal only to him.
